Ring of Light, Giessen

For the 2014 state garden show in Giessen, artist Monika Goetz placed a lighted ring above a 150 year-old oak. Kardorff Ingenieure assisted the artist in realizing the lighting.

After the river was rerouted in the 70’s, the tree is now located on a small island in the middle of the Lahn River.
Lighting Technology:
LED +
As darkness falls, the ring lights up. The ring of light appears to float above the treetop. A warm white LED tube illuminates the upper third of the tree with the leaves below swallowing the light. The name comes from the color temperature: 2200K.
