Museum Wiesbaden

Since May 2013, the Wiesbaden Museum has displayed its collection of old masters in the remodeled and newly organized south wing. The lighting concept designed by us for the exhibit has been implemented, including the illumination of the individual exhibits.

Building Type:
Culture +
The new presentation of the collection of old masters does not envision a chronological tour through art history, but rather focuses on a specific theme in each room, ranging across the genres of religion, portraiture, mythology, still lifes, and landscapes. To underline the current relevance of these genres, the works of contemporary artists are also present in these spaces. When designing the lighting, a primary concern was that the different exhibits could be illuminated flexibly.
Area:
Exhibition +
The proposed lighting design for the rooms is based on the optimal and detailed perception of each individual artwork. The highlights in the collection of old masters are accentuated discretely and an even lighting along the routes create a restful atmosphere.
Lighting Technology:
LED +
State-of-the-art LED spots with interchangeable optics and a uniformly warm luminous color (3,000 Kelvin) were newly installed and individually positioned. Not only the brilliance and the excellent color rendering (more than 90%), but also the low demand for energy (under 4 W/m² of room space: only a third of what is usually required for museum lighting) demonstrate the particular advantages.
