KölnTurm Lobby, Cologne

The KölnTurm is the highest office building in Cologne. Its façade by Jean Nouvel has become emblematic of the Cologne Media
Park. The newly designed lobby was upgraded with an impressive wall of light and a media reception counter.

Building Type:
Office +
To enhance the building’s attractiveness, the entrances of the KölnTurm were relocated and upgraded as part of the refurbishment. The sculptural wall of light which surrounds the central core of the building in the lobby creates a strong exterior effect, which results from its interplay with the media counter.
Area:
Atrium +
From a distance the specially designed LED lighting fixtures first appear to be a solid wall of light, but upon entering the lobby, it opens like a curtain of light and the natural stone surface of the central core’s wall becomes visible between the individual vertical lighting elements.
Lighting Technology:
LED +
The total of around 650 meters of LED profiles were installed in elements of different lengths depending upon the building’s architecture. A large-volume and imperceptible plastic diffuser on the inside serves as a cover for the line of LEDs and provides for even and continuous lighting.
