Float, Düsseldorf

In the Media Harbour of Dusseldorf, the office complex "FLOAT“ represents an architectural highlight, conceptualised by Pritzker-Award winner Renzo Piano. Kardorff Ingenieure were involved in the project for all aspects of artificial light and daylight planning.

Building Type:
Office +
The artificial lighting supports the appearance of the building towards all directions: energically optimised light lines and downlights have been fitted precisely into the multifunctional ceiling panels and react to the polygonal floor plans.
Area:
Exteriors +
The illumination in the exterior areas supports the path concept leading through the building complex. Spotlights give an accent to the passages, downlights highlight the area under the passerelle and pendant downlights accentuate the entrances to the buildings.
Lighting Technology:
Daylight +
The architectural concept features full transparency. Therefore, a comprehensive daylight planning was needed. Sun and glare protection as well as glass qualities were finetuned based on detailed simulations.
