The newest models of the BMW Group are designed at the Research and Innovation Center. Project groups with up to 100 employees work together in flexible, two-storey open rooms. Natural and artificial light interplay optimally in all areas of
the building. Its external appearance at night has also been taken into account. The desk lamps specially designed for all of the workstations underscore the corporate design.

The multiple storeys of offices are oriented around a central atrium and, as a result, are lit very well from both sides with natural lighting.

The fall of light and shadow for the atrium roof were defined using dynamic simulations.

A general lighting concept depending upon natural light was combined with table lamps especially designed for this project (see also BMW Table lamp).

A clear design that gets its strength from precise placement of the light colors.

The entrance is accented with large lights to correspond with the scale of the building.

Temporary offices for the BMW board members were set up in the conferencing area during the reconstruction of the BMW four-cylinder tower.

The daylight in the atrium formed the basis for developing the artificial lighting components.

Kardorff Ingenieure designed the artificial and natural lighting in close coordination with HENN Architekten and BMW as the user.
Daylight +
The arrangement of the rows of luminaires was done according to the exposure to natural light. This allows for simple regulation over the course of the day.
